Toughest Job

August 27, 2010

The toughest job in life is working on being something that you’re not. It’s a full-time job that will drain every bit of inspiration, energy, and strength. There is nothing like experiencing the freedom of simply being who God created you to be. Whether you’re trying to impress a girl, friends, or trying to do what everyone else is doing.

I can remember times in my life where I almost lost everything I worked hard for, and everything I was, simply because I was distracted by other people and what they were doing. I had to get to the point where I told myself, “You can only be you.” There is such a freedom and sense of release when you get back to this point.  Make the decision today to only be who God created you to be, and start experiencing freedom like never before.

“For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world, and forfeit his soul?” Mark 8:36 (NASB)

-Aaron Castellanos

I was so impacted by this. Hope it speaks to you too.

Thought of the Day: The Invisible Realm

By T.D. Jakes, on May 17th, 2010

Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth: therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty: for He maketh sore, and bindeth up: He woundeth, and His mands make whole. He shall deliver thee in six troubles: yea, in seven there shall no evil touch thee. (Job 5:17-19)

Listen for God’s hammering in the spirit. It appears that He is not there, but He is.

Perhaps you’ve said, “Where is the move of God that I used to experience? Why am I going through these fiery trials?” God is there with you even now. He is operating in a different realm.

I know so well how hard it is to trust Him when you can’t trace Him! But that’s exactly what He wants you to do—He wants you to trust Him. It may seem that everybody is passing you right now. Avoid measuring yourself against other people. God knows when the time is right. His methods may seem crude and His teachings laborious, but His results will be simply breathtaking. Without scams and games, without trickery or politics, God will accomplish a supernatural miracle because you trusted Him while He worked in the invisible realm.

It’s that time again, if you don’t believe me just go to Wal-Mart. Here are a few things I remember from back to school, back in the day.

This was one of the greatest ways to let people know what you were about. Whether it was a sports team, a tv show, or space, Trapper Keepers was the way to do it. I can still hear the velcro sound as you pull it open.

I remember spending a good chunk of my money on these machines. The funny thing is I didn’t need a pencil, but you had to be ready for the next person to challenge you in Pencil Break. Did anybody else play pencil break?

There are so many things I liked that I look back on now and think,”Wow, that was creepy.” One of those things would be  Slim Goodbody.  I loved this show for some reason, but now that I see the pics of this guy, he’s creepy.

I just watched this movie the other day on YouTube and it still scares me to not do drugs. Do you remember “All Stars to the Rescue?”

This was an anti-drug movie with all the awesome cartoon characters you could think of. I remember getting so excited when they told us in school we were going to watch it, but it still creeped me out.

See what I mean. ughhh.

This day was probably the best day of the whole school year. Back then we called it “Play Day,” now I hear they call it “Field Day.” I remember how competitive everyone was on that day. And for what? For one of these babies.

I swear it was like winning the World Cup.

I want to know what you guys remember from school back in the day.

I received these pics a while back from an awesome dude named Michael Dean, from Georgia. I love how creative Michael got with the pics! Thanks Michael!

Life is but a vapor

August 15, 2010

As many if you might already know, this past weekend I had plans to head to Houston with Aphesis. On Thursday at about 3:45am I received a call from my mom, crying and telling me my grandma had passed away. That would be the beginning of a sad, peaceful, draining weekend, all at the same time.

My grandma was a huge blessing for my family. She was a woman who loved God with all her heart and even on her last days, when her memory was not 100% there, she could quote a complete Psalm.

As I was at her funeral I couldn’t help but let my mind wander. I asked myself, “What will people say of me at my funeral? Will I leave a legacy, or a let down? Am I living life to the fullest?”  One of the many things I learned from my grandma was to always put God first. I couldn’t even imagine what she felt on her last days when she was laying in a bed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and not being able to communicate. But despite all of the obstacles she encountered, nothing made her come to life like when someone would read her the bible. Even to the last day, my grandma loved God with all her heart, and I hope that I will be able to do the same, and leave a wonderful legacy for my children and grandchildren.

Last minute event

August 6, 2010

I know it’s last-minute, but we just found out about this event not too long ago. Anyway, I will be taking Aphesis out to Fort Worth tomorrow for this awesome show! Make plans to be there and stop by our booth and purchase some Aphesis to take home with you!

I realized today that many times I do giveaways where I ask people to find me and they win a shirt. Well, not everyone knows what I look like, so here are my many faces. You have no excuse now.

My serious face

My, “I’m tired but what you said is so funny,” face

My, “I’m about to throw up all over your shirt in 2 seconds,” face.

My, “I guarantee it, Men’s Wearhouse,” face. Or my, “I got something in my eye when I was riding my bike,” face.

My, “Aaron of Aphesis and Moses Uvere are going to be in Houston next Friday,” face.

That’s right, hip hop artist Moses Uvere and myself will be heading to Houston next weekend. I will be speaking at a church youth group about Aphesis, and what it took to step out, believe God, follow my dream, and refuse to be ordinary. Moses will be doing an amazing hip hop show, so it’s two amazing things that you’re getting in one place for free!! We will be filming a small video tonight that will give more info, so stay tuned.
